Objective:To establish a nonunion database system, and to introduce the usage method and the clinical application of this database software.Methods:This study is carried out through arranging the data of nonunion and establishing a database system by applying the software "Visual FoxPro 9.0".According to the diagnosis and treatment of the nonunion patients, this database software designs two data forums: clinical case forum and follow-up note forum, at the same time including statistical query function and system management function. And this thesis explains in detail how to use the database system.The randomly selected 40 cases from the data (from January 1,2009 to December 31, 2009) of the nonunion patients in the Second Ward of the Orthopedics Department in the Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University have been put into the database system. And then the results are tested by applying the professional statistical software SPSS.Results:1.The structure of Visual FoxPro database system is simple, and the database system is running well;the nonunion database system is established in a short period, and the whole process costs more than one months.2.The category query results by applying this database software are exactly the same with the statistical results by applying the software SPSS(13.0) to the corresponding items. Conclusions:1.The input data of the nonunion database system is fast, complete, and reliable.It can gather and grasp the detailed data on diagnosis and treatment of the nonunion patients in order to provide the evidence-based medicine with objective clinical evidence.2.The statistical query function of the system is easy to operate, and the results are accurate and fast. It is a powerful tool for the clinical research.3. Since the establishment of the nonunion database system, the system is running well and improves the efficiency of the patient data collecting. It is worthy of being used and promoted in clinical research.
