Abstract/Summary:
Objective To test the hypothesis that bloodβ2-MG could predict subclinical target organs damage in untreated essential hypertensive(EH) patients. Methods Three hundred and seventy patients with EH were classified two groups according to bloodβ2-MG concentration:normal group (n=338,bloodβ2-MG<2.0mg/L); abnormal group(n=32,bloodβ2-MG≥2.0mg/L). The blood pressure, body height and mass were measured. Fasting plasma glucose(GLU),total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C),serum creatinine(Cr),urea nitrogen(BUN),uric acid(UA), lipoprote-in a (LPA),apolipoprotein A (APOA),apolipoprotein B (APOB),APOA/APOB, cysteine C(Cys-C) were determined. Inte-rventricular spetum thickness at end-diastole(IVSTD),left ventricular end-diastolic poste-rior wall thickness (LVPWTD),Ieft ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD) were meas-red by ultrasonography. Results Logistic multiple regression analysis showed that age, systolic blood pressure (SBP),Cr, LPA, APOA, APOB, APOA/APOB,Cys-C were indepe-ndently associated with the occurrence of abnormal bloodβ2-MG. comp-ared with normal group,IVSTD, LVP W-TD,RWT,left ventricular mass index (LVMI),incidence of offcentric hypertrophy of left ventricle were significan-tly increased(P<0.01 or P<0.05) and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was significantly decreased(P<0.01) as well. Conclusion the abnormal bloodβ2-MG was positively related to subcli-nical target organs(heart and kindey) demages in EH patients.
