Reliability And Validity Of The Chinese Version Of The Autism Ota Staging Evaluation Method

Objective:Ota-staging evaluation method is a way of rating autistic children's cognitive level. systematic and continuous development training planned by ota-staging can not only improve autistic children's cognition and emotional development and promote the formation of it s adaptability, but also prevent the occurrence of behavior disorder as well. The objective of this research is to investigate the reliability, validity of the Chinese version of the autism ota-staging evaluation method.Methods:In the research,72 cases were enrolled,72 control were balanced on age and sex, autistic children and normal control were examined with Chinese version of the ota-staging evaluation, Chinese version of Binet's test, and after two weeks,30 autistic children and 30 normal control were retested by the Chinese version of the ota-staging evaluation to analysis the test-retest reliability, internal consistency reliability and content validity, differentiate validity, Criterion-related validity of the ota staging evaluation.Results:(1) General state:The differences between the two groups in children's birth weight and fetal age and parents culture degree were not significant. (2) Reliability analysis:Chinese version of the Ota-staging evaluation method had good stability and consistency. The test-retest reliability were 0.958,0.916(p<0.01), and the internal consistency reliability were 0.653 -0.885.(3) Validity analysis:the validity of Chinese version of the Ota-staging evaluation method were evaluated by content validity, differentiate validity and criterion-related validity. Content validity were obtained by statistical analysis, the correlation of the subject scores and total scores were 0.479-0.885; Analysis the difference between autistic children and the control group, they had significantly difference on ota-staging score, it showed Chinese version of the ota-staging evaluation had good differentiate validity; We examined the correlations between the ota-staging score and the binet's score to get the criterion-related validity; The correlation coefficient between the ota-staging score and binet's score of each group were 0.818-0.905, and all had statistical significance.Conclusions:The reliability and validity of Chinese version of the Ota-staging evaluation on trial in Dalian were so good that it's useful instrument to autistic cognitive assessment, intervention and prognosis in China.
