Objective:The incidence of malignant thymoma gets upward trend in recent years and the treatment of maligant thymoma with surgery or radiotherapy alone or with conventional chemotherapy drugs is poor efficacy. Our department apply oxaliplatin combined with 5-Fu in treatment of The incidence of malignant thymoma get upward trend in recent years, and the treatment of malignant thymomaand get better results. This article retrospectively analysed 20 patients with malignant thymoma and discussed the efficacy of chemotherapy for malignant thymoma with oxaliplatin combined with 5-Fu and the relationship between the efficacy and pathology.of malignant thymoma. Methods:We collected 20 cases of malignant thymoma patients from December 2002 to December 2009, who were confirmed by pathology or cytology. There were 2 patients with B1 type,3 cases with B2 type,5 cases with B3 type and 10 cases with C type. According to the latest WHO pathological classification, these patient is divided into two groups:the low malignant group B1+B2, high malignant B3+C. There were 11 males and 9 females with PS score≤2. The treatment was application of oxaliplatin combined with 5-fluorouracil chemotherapy and the efficacy was evaluated after 2 cycles. Pathological classification of thymoma was in according to WHO2004 revised classification criteria. The efficacy was evaluated with RECIST solid tumor primary criteria and adverse reactions was assessment according to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) common toxicity grading criteria (version 3.0).Data analysis using statistical software SPSS 10.0. Results:Three cases complete regression (CR),and 13 cases partial response (PR) and 4 cases stable disease (SD) were observed. The response rate was80%and the disease control rate was 100%.The result of subgroups was there was no CR cases in the low malignant group (B1+B2), and there were 3cases CR in high grade. Three cases PR of low malignant group and 10cases PR in high malignant group were observed. The total effective rate was 60%in low degree of malignant group and that was 86.7%in high degree of malignant group. The two groups were significantly different effect (P <0.05). The common adverse reactions were leucopenia, anemia, neuro-sensory toxicity and gastrointestinal response. During treatment, the majority adverse reactions areⅠ-Ⅱgrade.In this study noⅣgrade adverse reactions were observedthymoma was effective and feasible. It is well tolerated with minimal adverse reactions.
