ObjectiveThis study evaluated the effect on lipid metabolism of the new generation aromatase inhibitor anastrozole, when used as adjuvant treatment in postmenopausal Chinese women with early breast cancer. Other adverse reactions were observed too.MethodsPostmenopausal women with early breast cancer patients, taken anastrozole 1 mg once daily,Their lipid profiles were collected respectively, before taking the drug, taking 3 months,6 months after medication, and later once a year of total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein, high density lipoprotein, Until the end of medication or follow-up. Patients taking lipid-lowering drugs were excluded. Telephone follow-up other adverse reactions emerged in the process taking.Results285 postmenopausal breast cancer patients took part in the trial from Jan.2003 to Jun.2009.All patients had completed primary surgery and demonstrated a postmenopausal status. ER or PR positivity was confirmed by histopathology. Taking a minimum of one year for a maximum of 5 years, the median time to medication is 3.61 years. With the medication time, Anastrozole significantly increased the levels of low density lipoprotein cholesterol after 6 months of treatment, continue to 5 years, the maximum value of 18.2% higher than that before medication. Anastrozole significantly increased the levels of total cholesterol and high density lipoprotein-cholesterol after 1 years of treatment. Anastrozole significantly reduced the levels of triglycerides after 1 years of treatment. On a history of hyperlipidemia patients, anastrozole had no effect on serum lipids;More than 60 years of age compared to less than 60 years of age, more significant changes in blood lipids. The relation between blood lipid changes and cardiovascular diseases needs further observation. The rate of other adverse events were similar to that reported with foreign patientsConclusionFor the postmenopausal breast cancer patients, Taking anastrozole may lead to abnormal lipid metabolism, Anastrozole significantly increased the levels of low density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol and high density lipoprotein-cholesterol,significantly reduced the levels of triglycerides. The relation between blood lipid changes and cardiovascular diseases needs further observation. The rate of other adverse events were similar to that reported with foreign patients.it is suggested long-term application of anastrozole-treated patients, blood lipid levels should regularly reviewed. The rate of other adverse events similar to that reported with foreign patients, patients tolerated well. |
