Food safety has attracted high attention and concern with the improving of people's living standards. Dietary supplement, as a special kind of food, the safety of which has been more and more extensively focused on, so as the safety of traditional Chinese medicines. Added medicines to dietary supplements and traditional Chinese medicine is very serious, which can affect people's health immensely. It is important and significance to establish an effective and rapid methods to monitor the safety of the products. In this thesis, high-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI/MS) method with high sensitivity and specificity has been established to analysis of forbidden drugs in anti-hypertensive dietary supplements and traditional Chinese medicines. Mass spectrometry Library has been established to monitor the illicit drugs of anti-hypertensive, weight loss, hypoglycemic and blood cholesterol medicines and so on to provide detailed information for the supervision and detection of the drugs. The main contents are included as follows:1. The status quo of added illicit drugs in dietary supplements and traditional Chinese medicines as well as the harmful to consumers were reviewed. The methods that are commonly used to detect the illegal medicines were introduced, and compared the advantage of high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry technology with other methods in drug testing field.2. Simultaneous determination of some common synthetic medicines for treatment of hypertension in dietary supplements by liquid chromatography mass spectrometry. The liquid chromatographic separation conditions and MS response of the targets has been optimized. The method had lower detection limits and high reliability, and can accurately detect commonly used anti-hypertension drugs in dietary supplements and traditional Chinese medicines. It can provide a strong basis for quality supervision departments. 3. Detection of adulteration of anti-hypertension dietary supplements and traditional Chinese medicines with synthetic drugs using LC/MS. It is important to establish a method that can screen of the safety of dietary supplements and traditional Chinese medicines. The method optimized the liquid chromatographic separation conditions and MS response of the targets to establish a fast method to screen several kinds of illicit anti-hypertension medicines, and it can be widely used in detection areas of illicit medicines.4. The mass spectrometry Library of illegal drugs has been established. In order to overcome the limitations of the past methods that known of the illicit target drugs, and aspect the safety of dietary supplements and traditional Chinese medicines more effectively, it is essential to establish a criteria, mass spectrometry information completely library based on the present condition of the lab. The library takes the initiative but not the past passive behavior and can effectively screen of illicit drugs at the absence of reference substances.
