Objective:To analyze the complication rate and curative effect about unstable Lateral Condylar Fractures of the humerus in children with traditional. chinese manipulattion method associated with percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation. Method:78 patients were involved in this trial and classified by the Wadsworth's classification, includedⅡandⅢtypes. All patient were treated in Pediatric Orthopaedic in Traditional. Chinese Medicine Hospital of Fo Shan. There were 63 man and 15 women with a mean age of 4.42±2.13, there were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, there were 52 patients in the experimental group, others in the control group. Experimental group was treated by traditional chinese manipulation method associated with percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation, if this method was unsuccessful, the patients were changed into control group, and control group was treated by open reduction and Kirschner wire fixation. After surgery a long arm posterior plaster splint is worn in a forearm neutral and 90°flexed elbow position. Aftertreatment include Chinese medicine and Western medicine treatment, and accompanied with physicotherapeutics. Results:All the patients had follow-up visit, average time was 6 months. All of them had a bone healing time in 6-8 months after operation, average time in experimental group was 5.6078±0.7751 weeks, in control group was 6.2059±0.9241 weeks. The functional scoring method of Mayo used to evaluate the elbow function, it is divided into excellent, good, fair and more poor four grades. After 6 months operation, the excellent rate was 95.65% in experimental group and 81.25% in control group. Statistical analysis was carried out using computer system, and has significance. In our follow-up, we hadn't found nonunion, delayed healing, cubitus varus or valgus and so on. Conclusions:Lateral Condylar Fractures in children is a kind of articular fracture,it could result severe complications. We consider lateral condylar fractures of the distal humerus with less than 2 mm of displacement have a satisfactory results after reduction, we draw up this standard through look up document literatures. Traditional. chinese manipulation method have a excellent fracture reduction to lateral condylar fractures of the distal humerus in children, if cooperated with percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation could fix fracture segment firmly, this method promote fracture healing and elbow function recovery as soon far as possible. So it have a worth to extend.
