AbstractIn recent year, the rate of fungal rhinosinusitis, rises because of antibiotic, immunedepressor, glycuresis. At present clinical diagnosemainly depends on theexamination of portrait. The rate of the diagnose is very high who has representative portrait changing. But clinical diagnose is very difficult who doesn't have esetativeportrait changing. To investigate a new effective way to detect the fungi in rinosinusitis and define if the detection of 1-3-β-D glucosan in blood samples is a both effective and quick way to diagnose the fungal rhinosinusitis.MethodWe choose 29 cases of fungal rhinosinusitis who were treated in our department between the year 2008.10 and 2010.3 as our study group and 33 cases of purely nasal septum deviation as control group. The 29 cases contain 27 cases of fungus ball and 2 case of allergic fungal sinusitis. Their age fluctuate from 24 to 77, andthe average age is 47. All of the 25 cases blood samples were taken to detect the 1-3-β-D glucosan(inclusive deviation of nasal septum, chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, nasal cavity benign tumor or malignant tumor and so on patients.) with the kit produced by Beijing jinshanchuan technology company and under the MB-80 quickly microorganismal detection system.Result1-3-β-D glucosan was found exceeding the diagnostic criteria (10pg/ml) of the kit in 18 cases of fungal rhinosinusitis; and it was found no more than lOpg/ml in all 33 cases of control group patients. Two of the 29 cases of fungal rhinosinusitis patients is allergic fungal sinusitis, and its level of 1-3-β-D glucosan reaches to 16.81Pg/ml and 24.90Pg/ml. We compared the result of the study group to the control group's, and found that there is significant deviation beteen the two groups. We detected the result with the chi square test and concluded that it has statistical significance (P<0.05).ConclusionThe detection of 1-3-β-D glucosan in patients'blood samples is a both effective and quick way to diagnose the fungal rhinosinusitis. The positive rate of the way is about 90%. And also the 1-3-P-D glucosan elevation may be a reliable signal of fungal infection.
