Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is a technology wich is to puncture the lesion under the supervision of endoscopic ultrasound to chieve the cells and tissues for pathological diagnosis. This technology now is used more and more in clinical. And it's complications is also caused people's attention. Because the gastrointestinal tract is not a sterile environment, so bacteremia caused by EUS-FNA is also concerned. Patients who have to accept upper gastrointestinal examination usually take-off proton pump inhibitors (Proton pump interactor, PPI) class of acid-suppressing drugs such as omeprazole because of upper abdominal discomfort.PPI reducing gastric acidity will also weakens the inhibition of gastric acid in the stomach that may increase the incidence rate of bacteremia. Then if oral PPI befor surgery will increase the risk of bacteremia? Is it necessary to take out of PPI befor surgery of the patients with high preoperative risk factors of bacteremia? It is necessary to conduct a special study.Methods18 adult dogs weighing 20 kg, either sex, were randomly assigned to experimental group and control group,8 to experimental group,10 to control group.Befor the operation, the dogs in experimental group take omeprazole 20 mg orally twice a day for three days, and the dogs in control group take the same dose of placebo. Respectively take a blood culture before the operation, before the fine needle aspiration,5 minutes after puncture,15 minutes after puncture and 30 minutes after puncture.ResultsIn experimental group there are 3 dogs occurred bacteremia, one is occurred after endoscopic ultrasonography but bifore fine needle aspiratio, two is after fine needle aspiration. The control group only had one dog appeared bacteremia. Compare the two datas:P> 0.05.there is no significant difference between the two groups.ConclusionTake PPI class of acid-suppressing drugs before endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration do not inerease increased risk of bacteremia. In clinical there is no necessary to suspended PPI.But the sample size of this study is small. We still need further experiments which have bigger sample size.
