Objective To investitate the efficacy and side effects at the early stage after Intraoperative implantation of sustained-releasing 5-FU microparticles at the residue liver embedding after hepatectomy. Methods 32 cases with resectable hepatocellular carcinoma were collected from my therapy group and divided into two groups randomly.:treated group Intraoperative implantation of sustained-releasing 5-FU microparticles at the residue liver embedding after hepatectomy and control group. The serous values of Alb, ALT, AST, TB, AFP and WBC were measured in all patients 1 day before and 7.14 days after operation respectively, and the total drainage fluid and hospitalization days after operation were measured too. Results Before operation there were no difference of gender, age, pathology, the scope of surgical resection between two groups(P>0.05). There were no significant difference of Alb, ALT, AST, TB, AFP and WBC between two groups(P>0.05).. After operation. The serous values of AFP from the treatment group (d7,d14) are much lower than the control group(P<0.05), but the total drainage fluid were higher than the control group(P<0.05); there were no significant difference of Alb, TB, ALT, AST, WBC(d7, d14) and hospitalization days after operation(P>0.05).Conclusion Not only intraoperative implantation of sustained-releasing 5-FU microparticles at the residue liver embedding after hepatectomy has no effect on both liver function and blood system., but also can decrease the AFP level, maybe helpful to resist intrahepatic metastasis after hepatectomy. It increases the total drainage fluid, but has no effect on the hospitalization days after operation. It's a new therapy for patients with resectable HCC.
