Abstract/Summary:
Objectives:In recent yesra, traffic accidents and industrial injury has a significant increase. Some patients with significant diplopia, eye movement disorder, eye sink, Seriously affect the quality of life. As the orbital structure, complexity and importance of visual function, Orbital blowout fractures has been the focus of interdisciplinary research. The main purpose of orbital fracture surgery is to eliminate diplopia, Improve the eye movement disorder, Correction of enophthalmos. To determine the causes and incidence of Orbital blow-out fracture by an epidemiologic retrospe-ctive study. And observe the postoperative changes of diplopia and eyeball movement disorder in patients with orbital fracture.Material and Methods:1. A systemic review of 176 patients of Orbital blow-out fracture was presented with age, sex, etiology, fracture characteristic2. Forty-five patients with Orbital blow-out fracture were treated by surgical methods. In the follow up study, the patients were analyzed using radiologic and objective and subjective clinical examination.Results:1. The majority of Orbital blow-out fracture was found in males. The average age was 31.5years old. Traffic accidents were cause of Orbital blow-out fracture (45.81%). A total of 176 patients were involved in the study,155 patients with the surgical treatment,21 patients with conservative treatment.2. Among the 45 cases,18 were simple orbital wall fracture and the other 27 were complex orbital fracture. Fifteen of the patients with simple orbital wall fracture had diplopia and 13 had eyeball movement disorder of I degree or II degree before operation.Twelve months after operation,2 had diplopia of I degree orâ…¡degree, and 1 had eyeball movement disorder of I degree. For those with complex orbital fracture,25 had diplopia and 26 had eyeball movement disorder. Twelve months after operation,19 had diplopia(â…¢degree diplopia in 4)and 16 had eyemovement disorder.Conclusions:1. Traffic accidents were the main cause of Orbital blow-out fracture, which occurred mainly in young adult males'age from 31-40 years old. The incidence of orbital floor fracture is highest.2. Surgical management can effectively improve diplopia and eyeball movement disorder resulted from orbital fracture.Earlier treatment is superior to later treatment in regard with the effect of surgical interven-tion.
