Objective:To evaluate the clinical effects of laparoscopy on pelvic abscess.Pelvic abscess is a serious disease which affects women's health. Pelvic abscess is mainly caused by bacteria and other pathogens such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae, which Violate ovarian tube, uterine tissue, the pelvic peritoneum, finally leading to congestion, edema, hyperplasia, purulent and the increase of abscess juice. If inflammation repeats, Pus can be accumulated in the uterus, behind the broad ligament, in the end leading to pelvic abscess. In the early 20th century Pelvic abscess treatment method is to postpone surgery. Unfortunately this strategy causes the mortality rate of Pelvic abscess patients up to 90%, abdominal surgery cutting out the surrounding infected tissue abscess, and proper drainage can reduce that mortality rate up to 80%. In 1980's the successful application of clindamycin improved the success rate of the medication treatment. Current research is focused on exploring the role of minimally invasive surgery in the treatment of pelvic abscessMethods:45 patients of pelvic abscess were selected in Maternity Hospital of DaLian from September 2003 to June 2009.15 patients were chosen for treatment by laparoscopy plus antibiotics as the study group. The same time 20 cases were chosen for treatment by antibiotic as control group,Two groups were observed in regards to recovery time, time and complications. Results:The average admission time of the control group was (15.11±8.13)d,the average admission time of study group was (9. 07±1.66)d,which is significantly shorter than the control group (P<0.01).In the control group regression rate of encapsulated tumor was 6% while in the study group was 100%, the Difference of two groups was significant (P<0. 01). The occurrence of menstrual disorders in Control group was40%, while in study group was 40% , the Difference of two groups was significant (P<0.01).The pelvic pain incidents in control group were 54.7% while in study group were 3.7%,the difference of two groups was significant (P<0.01).The incidents of dysmenorrheal in control group was 64%,while in study group was 7%, the difference of two groups was significant (P<0.01).Conclusion:The treatment of pelvic abscess with laparoscopy played a positive role in shorting the course of treatment, reducing pelvic adhesion, retaining a positive role in reproductive function, which is a very effective method in the treatment of pelvic abscess.
