[Objective] To observe the treatment effects of traditional Chinese medicine WCGMKL on the Gastrointestinal Type of Influenza and to explore the mechanism in the treatment of Gastrointestinal Type of Influenza.[Methods] 1. To study the effect of WCGMKL to relax gastrointestinal smooth muscle and reduce gastrointestinal peristalsis by the model of ileum smooth muscle contraction in rabbits, the model of small intestine propulsion in mice and the model of diarrhea by rheum officinale in mice; 2. To study bacteriostasis effect of WCGMKL by experimentation for bacteriostasis in vitro; 3. To study anti-inflammatory effect of WCGMKL by the model of foot-tumefacted by carrageenin in rats, the model of ear-edemaed by dimethylbenzene in mice and the model of permeability of blood capillary in abdominal cavity of mice; 4. To study fever-relieved effect of WCGMKL by the model of pyrexia by carrageenin in rats and the model of pyrexia by yeast in rats.; 5. To study analgesia effect of WCGMKL by the model of writhing by acetic acid in mice and the model of licking foot on hot board in mice.[Results] Compared with the control group, the ileum smooth muscle of rabbits had been relaxed obviously by WCGMKL(P<0.01); impelling rate of small intestine had been decreased(P<0.05); diarrhea by rheum officinale in mice had been decreased(P<0.01). Compared with the control group.temperature of the model of pyrexia by carrageenin in rats(P<0.05) and the model of pyrexia by yeast in rats had been descended (P<0.01). Compared with the control group, degree of inflammatory had been depressed by WCGMKL in the model of foot-tumefacted by carrageenin in rats(P<0.01), the model of ear-edemaed by dimethylbenzene in mice(P<0.05) and the control of permeability of blood capillary in abdominal cavity of mice(P<0.05). Compared with the model group.frequency of writhing in the model of acetic acid in mice had been reduced(P<0.01) and period of pain threshold of mice on hot borad had been prolonged(P<0.05) by WCGMKKL.[conclusion] The therapeutical effect for Gastrointestinal type of influenza by WCGMKL had been found. The symptom of gastrointestinal type of influenza has been antagonized, such as fever.abdominal pain, diarrhea. Mechanism of it may be related to antagonizstion of imflammtion, relieving spasm of smooth muscle of small intestine and preventing bacterial infection.
