Objective To research the expression pattern of AQP4 and VEGF and to analyze the relationship between AQP4 and VEGF in rat retinal ischemia/reperfusion injury.Methods The model of retinal ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats was builded by increasing the intraocular pressure. fifty six wistar rats were randomly divided into six groups after retinal ischemia operation for 6h,12h,24h,48h,72h,7d and control group (select right eye), using immunohistochemical staining and average optical density analysis and pearson to observe the expression level of AQP4 and VEGF and their correlation.Results my results showed that the up-regulated expression of AQP4 was found after 6h in ischemia group, increased gradually and reached maximal level at 24h after retinal ischemia/reperfusion injury, the difference was significant except 7d group (P<0.01).VEGF was found at 12h in ischemia group, and reached maximal level at 48h after retinal ischemia/reperfusion injury and the difference was significant except 6h group (P<0.01). There was positive correlation between AQP4and VEGF from12h to 3d, and the correlations in 24h and 48h were better than other groups.Conclusions AQP4 and VEGF may affect the water metabolism of retina by synergistic effect in the retinal ischemia/reperfusion injury.
