This dissertation is a research on the "miracle-working doctor" phenomenon, analyzing a serious of issues from the sociological perspective:what is "miracle-working doctor"; Why this phenomenon emerged and why there do so many people believes. This study adopts a variety of sociological research method to represent the modern campaign on creating "miracle-working doctor". Through the description and analysis of Chinese concepts of health and the health behaviors which reflects the Chinese cultural psychology and characteristics, this research points out it is that Chinese culture regards the practical as important rather than the rationality, and the universal lack of faith provide the social and cultural psychology base for the birth of "miracle-working doctor".The research finds out that the frequent "miracle-working doctor" phenomenon in the modern society is jointly promoted by the multi entities:the "miracle-working doctor" have the authority titles, "doctor" who has the authority title, numerous accolades, promoter behind as well as the media's complicity. However, their tactics are much the same crooks, and some of them seem very superficial; their drug therapies couldn't cure diseases, or even some "miracle-working doctor" treat the patients to be dead. The root reasons of continuously emerging "miracle-working doctor" are that Chinese didn't develop a scientific and reasonable heathy behaviors, their health awareness is incomplete and the concept on how to make healthy is also vague.However, because of the personal desire, family and social responsibilities, and moral order, the patients have a kind of attachment to life and are eager to extend the length of life. Thus, after felling ill, if the disease couldn't be cured by multi scientific methods, they would like to seek all the possible means for the desire of life, moral compliance, and accountability to the community rituals, to cure the illness, including "Miracle-working doctor".
