Objective:To study and evaluate the reliability and advantage of UNIPLATE Anterior Cervical Plate System with 2 screw holes configurated with unique midline screw fixation used in anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and internal fixation on surgical treatment of one-level cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM).Methods:25 cases of one-level CSM patients who underwent ACDF and UNIPLATE Anterior Cervical Plate System internal fixation were involved in study group and all cases were followed up for 6 months. Another previous 23 cases of one-level CSM patients who underwent ACDF and CODMAN Anterior Cervical Plate internal fixation, followed up for above 6 months, were involved in control group. The operation duration, quantity of bloodloss associated with the operation, post-operative complications rate, primary fusion rate and intervertebral height changing rate between two groups were contrasted. Pre-and post-operative neurological function were evaluated according to JOA score standard, and thus clinical efficacy between two groups were contrasted. All date were analysed statisticly with SPSS 13.0 software. Results:The operation duration and post-operative complications rate in UNIPLATE Anterior Cervical Plate System fixation group were lower than that in CODMAN Anterior Cervical Plate fixation group and the differences between two groups had obvious statistical significance (P< 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference on the quantity of bloodloss associated with the operation between two groups (P>0.05). The post-operative JOA scores in both groups showed significant improvement as compared with the pre-operative status. Nevertheless there was no statistically obviously significant difference on the total excellent and good rate between two groups (P>0.05). There was also no statistically significant difference on the primary fusion rate and intervertebral height changing rate between two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion:UNIPLATE Anterior Cervical Plate System had obvious advantages over CODMAN Anterior Cervical Plate on application to ACDF and internal fixation for treating one-level cervical spondylotic myelopathy. Under the promise of clinical efficacy, primary fusion rate and intervertebral height changing rate, UNIPLATE system could simplify surgical procedure, save operation time and minimize post-operative complications rate.
