Association Of The Severity Of Coronary Artery Disease With Left Ventricle Ejection Fraction In Patients With CHD

ObjectiveThis study was performed to find the association of the severity of coronary artery disease with left ventricle ejection fraction in patients with CHD.MethodsWe selected 145 consecutive patients who were diagnosed CHD according to selective coronary angiography admitted to our hospital from December 2008 to April 2009. The severity of coronary disease was accessed by the Gensini scoring system. These patients were divided into two groups, patients with lower Gensini score (44cases) and patients with lower Gensini score (101cases) to compare the difference of ordinary risk factors for CHD between the two groups, we also used linear correlation analysis to investigate the association of the severity of coronary artery disease with left ventricle ejection fraction in all patients and in two subgroups with CHD.ResultsThe two groups had statistically difference on sex (P=0.029),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (P=0.022) and left ventricle ejection fraction (P<0.001).We found age(β1=0.25, P<0.0001),sex(β2=0.235,P<0.0001),LDL-C concentration(β3=0.241,P<0.0001),duration of diabetes (β4=0.226,P<0.0001) went into multiple linear regression model. We also found the severity of coronary artery disease had negative correlation(r=-0.362,P=0.000188) with left ventricle ejection fraction in Patients with CHD, but in lower Gensini score group we didn't find any correlation, while in high Gensini score group we found negative correlation(r=-0.369, P<0.0001)ConclusionLeft ventricle ejection fraction will decrease as coronary atherosclerosis continues, especially in patients with high Gensini score.
