Video-mediastinoscopic Treatment For Thoracic Diseases

ObjectiveTo discuss the application of video-mediastinoscopy treatment for thoracic diseases.MethodsEight cases with mediastinal mass who were undergo resection byintercostals mediastinoscopy. from February,2007 to April,2009 in our division were retrospectively reviewed. The operation was performed general anesthesia. The patientswere maintained at a lateral decubitusposition.An incision 12.0 cm in length was made atthe fifth intercostalsspace along the posterior axillary line for introducing the video-mediastinoscope., Separating with electric coagulation. The mediastinal mass was drawn out under mediastinoscope.ResultsThe operation time was50-90min(mean,65min).All eight cases were without bleeding,fever or pleural effusion and less drainage flow. All cases tumor were complete excision by chest Comput ertomography(CT) and removed drainage tube in three days. Results of pathological examination:Five cases of neurilemmoma,three cases of neurofibromaConclusionVideo-mediastinoscopy is one of effective methods for treatmen to thoracic diseases.
