The Effect Of Bone Formation With Bio-Oss Guided By Collagen Membrane Fixed Or Not

Abstract/Summary:
There has always been bone-insuffient and bone-defect of most dental implant patients in variety degrees, and guided bone regeneration (GBR) has successfully solve this problem. This paper totally combine GBR,bone induction and bone conduction theories,in order to evaluate the impact on bone formation with Bio-Oss guided by collagen membrane fixing, and provide experiment data for clinical application.Materials and MethodsSix male mongrel dogs, collagen membranes:2cmx2.5cm, Bio-oss,24 titanium screws, low speed handpiece and fissure bur. Three experimental areas (1cm x lcm)were randomly formed on bilateral of mandibles randomly by low speed handpiece and fissure bur. The experiment include three groups:Experimental Group A (EG A):Bio-Oss+collagen membrane+titanium screws fixing; Experimental Group B (EG B):Bio-Oss+collagen membrane without fixing; Control Group(CG):only use Bio-Oss as comparison, without membrane. The macroscopic, histological and scanning electron microscope observations were performed at three,six months postoperation(three dogs each time). Then,the histomorphometric description of new bone percentage was obtained by Image-Pro Plus Computer Graphic Analysis System to compare the different repair of the bone defects treated with different methods. Finally statistically analyze the data of the obtained indicators.Results一,General observationThe color of operation area in all six dogs was normal and without signs of inflammatory reaction. Three months postoperation, it could be seen partial collageon membrane and residual Bio-Oss in both EG A and EG B, and the eminence of partial bony tissue,but the location of membrane in EG B was offset.There were some bony tissue and unabsorbed Bio-oss in CG.When it comes to six months after the operation, the general observation is basicly concord with three months postoperation,but the amount of residual Bio-Oss and collageon membrane has reduced.二,HE stainingBone trabeculas were well-arranged fasciculation formed,fusion and Haversian system can been found in EG A at three months.At the same, osteoblasts were shown in EG B and bone trabecula went to order,but the degree of new bone's maturity was less than EG A.On the other side,there were a great deal of irregular bone trabeculas, bone matrix and blood capillary in CG.Six months after operation,the mount of new bone and the maturity has enhanced in both EG B and CG; new bone and host bone could be seen osseo-integrated in EG A, and lots of lamellar bone could be seen.三,Scanning electron microscope observationThree months postoperation,EGA:formed bone make agglomerate-shaped fusion and Haversian bone system appeared, which showed active osteogenesis; EG B: flakiness of bony tissue and bone lacunae could be seen, but the new bone tissue was irregular;CG:there were bead-like deposits of calcium and bone-like matrix, showing that new bone was formed. At six months, the formed bone looked like lamellar and osseous-junction with the host bone tissue in EG A. It was found that in EG B& CG, the new bony tissue's maturity is better than earlier,and more close-up with the host bone.四,The histomorphometric description of new bone percentageThe new bone percentage (%) of EG A at three,six months are respectively (81.37±5.76),(91.05±3.13); the new bone percentage (%) of EG Bat three,six months are severally (72.85±2.31),(83.57±3.29); and the new bone percentage (%) of CG at three,six months goes to (58.23±3.25),(69.89±2.42) respectively。The results tell us that the formed bone percentage of EG A,EG Band CG all have statistical differences at three month, and the same consequence when it is six months. ConclusionBone formation effectiveness of Bio-Oss combining with collagen membrane fixing is better than that of Bio-Oss only and of collagen membrane without fixing.
