BACKGROUND:Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a life-saving skill which should be implemented within 10 minutes of cardiac arrest occurred in order to obtain a better outcome. Training of resuscitation skill especially the Basic Life Support (BLS) part is essential of making resuscitation into clinical practice in a timely manner. In many developed countries, resuscitation skill training is mandatory for all healthcare providers. METHODS:This study discussed the necessity of improving resuscitation skill performance in clinical setting and the significance of doing regular BLS and ACLS(Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) training for medical staff. Through retrospective analysis of BLS and ACLS training result in the past few years, we discussed the curriculum design and implemented some research program to evaluate the effectiveness of different methods when doing resuscitation skill training, the purpose was to find a better way of setting education program and doing resuscitation skill training in healthcare providers. CONCLUSIONS:Traditional way, Practice While Watching (PWW) method and the combination of both are useful of doing BLS training; The PWW method shows a better test result than other methods so it is more effective to do BLS training and renewing; Traditional way, team resuscitation method or the combination can be use to do ACLS training. Core cases management lectures combined with team resuscitation method would be a way of choice to teach the participants with no previous ACLS training experience. Team resuscitation method is an effective way of doing ACLS recertification which can save time and result in better test scores.
