AIM:To evaluate the effect of polypropylene mesh reinforced pancreatojejunostomy on pancreatic leakage.METHODS:Gathering the clinical data in our department between March September 2005 to February 2010,thirty eight consecutive patients received polyprolene mesh reinforced pancreatodudeonectomy.RESULTS:38case,12case carcinoma of head of pancreas; 8 case carcinoma of ampulla; 6 case cholangiocarcinoma; 6 case duodenal papilla carcinoma; one case Gastrointestinal stromal tumors; 3 case Serous cystadenoma; 2 case neuroeplthelial cyst; 36 case Pancreaticoenterostomy,2 case Pancreaticanastomosis.the mean operative time was 280min (260-390min), the mean Pancreaticojejunostomy operative time was 17.4min (13.7-34min), The average blood loss was 427ml (280-850ml),. The average recovery time of gastrointestinal 4.2d (4-6d),1 case of postoperative pancreatic leakage,1 case Abdominal bleeding,1 case biliary anastomosis leakage,1 case of intra-abdominal infection,1 case wound infection. The whole group were cured. We were followed up for 2-47 months, lost 16 cases, telephone follow-up of 22 cases.6 died, died of tumor recurrence.3 cases of liver metastasis.CONCLUSIONS:Mesh reinforcement Pancreaticojejunostomy that is safe and feasible, simple, consistent and reliable advantages, especially for more brittle texture of pancreas of pancreatic anastomosis.
