Inhibition Effects Of Broccoli On Breast Cancers And Cervical Cancers

In recent years, the prevalence of female cancer patient is not optimistic, the incidence increased year by year, and appeared young trend. Objective: Broccoli and seed extractive were researched on the inhibition of tumor growth, and analyzes its effective concentrations in vitro and vivo with tumor-bearing mice respectively. Methods: MTT method was used to analyze the inhibition effect of the broccoli and seed extractive to C127, Hela and EMT6 in vitro. The tumor-bearing mice were made by the injection of EMT6 cell in pure BALB/c subcutaneously, and control groups were randomly divided into negative control group, positive group with CTX, the water extract of broccoli seeds of high, medium and low-dose group and a group of water extracts of broccoli respectively in the next day. Each mouse was given gastric perfusion by weight every day. Rats were killed in order to take whole blood and separate serum in the first 15 days. Thymus and spleen were dissected to weight, and tumors were dissected to measure the size and weight. The vigor of serum T-SOD, MDA and GST were detected respectively. Results: Broccoli extracts with ethanol soluble or water has obvious inhibition to Hela, EMT6 and C127 cells in many different concentrations. The water extracts of broccoli seeds can increase serum level of GST in vivo experiments on tumor-bearing mice, but not significantly inhibit tumor growth, and have no influence on the thymus and spleen index. Broccoli seed extracts can't improve serum level of T-SOD, while it increases serum level of MDA and weakens the mental state and the activity ability of experimental animals in high doses. Broccoli extracts can increase serum GST level, and inhibit tumor growth in vivo animal experiments. But it does not improve the thymus and spleen index, index of serum T-SOD, MDA level. Conclusions: 1.Broccoli seed water extracts and ethanol extracts, ethanol extract s of broccoli flower buds had very good inhibition on C127(breast cancer cell lines of mice), EMT6(breast cancer cell lines of mice) and Hela(human cervical carcinoma cell lines) in higher concentrations. 2.In vivo experiments, broccoli buds juice can inhibit the growth of EMT6 mouse breast cancer, and it has a good anti-tumor effect without affecting the growth and development of animals. 3.Both water or ethanol extracts of broccoli seed and ethanol extracts of broccoli flower buds can promote the growth of tumor cells in the lower concentration. 4.Broccoli juice did not influence either spleen and thymus index or the level of serum T-SOD and MDA. It increase the level of serum GST.
