Ischemic cerebrovascular disease (ICVD) is a common disease in nervous system, its incidence, mortality and morbidity are high, it is a heavy burden to families and society. Therefore, the incidence, diagnosis and treatment of ICVD is the focus in neurological research. Recent years the relationship between hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and ICVD has taken more and more attentions. Results show that the level of serum HGF is significantly higher in patients with ICVD.However, the reports of the changes of serum HGF content in different ICVD types, infarct sizes and neurological deficits groups. And the relevance between the level of serum HGF and IMT and LDL-C, as well as the relationship between HGF and hepertention et al. clinical indexes is fewer. The present resceach had observed the change of serum HGF content in significance in ischemic cerebrovascular disease and then approach its clinical significance.65 patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease including 39 with ACI and 26 with TIA were selected according to strict inclusion and exclusion criteria from June to December of 2009 at the department of Neurology in China-Japan Union Hospital, Jilin University. We also chose 25 healthy volunteers in policlinic as control group during the same time. Onset of all ICVD patients were within 24 hours。ACI and TIA patients were diagnosed by head CT or MRI,the diagnostic criteria was consistent with the Conference of the Fourth National Cerebrovascular Disease. ICVD patients were divided into groups according to blood pressure, thickness of carotid artery intima media, ACI patients were divided into groups with the infarct size and the extent of neurological impairment. Analysis the relationship between indicators of related experiments and ICVD, the changes of serum HGF content in different ICVD types, infarct sizes and neurological deficits groups, and the relevance between the level of serum HGF and IMT (surrogate markers of atherosclerosis) and laboratory parameters, as well as the relationship between HGF and hepertention.Result:The level of serum HGF in ICVD group was significantly higher than the control group, and its serum level in ACI group was higher than TIA group(p<0.05), The level of serum HGF was significantly different with different lesion size in ACI group,it was higher in patients with massive cerebral infarction (p<0.05); The level of serum HGF of ICVD patients in different degree of neurological deficit was markly higher than the control group(p<0.05),but it is similar in light, moderate and severe group. Compared with the control group, the IMT of ICVD patients were significantly different (P<0.05), compared with the control group the plaque detection rate was significantly higher in ICVD group (P<0.05). The level of serum HGF was markedly positive accociated with IMT and the level of serum LDL-C (p<0.01),and negative correlation with the level of serum HDL-C,(p<0.01), however, the level of serum HGF had no association with other corresponding laboratory indexs. HGF of control group with hypertension was significantly higher than non-hypertension, and the level of serum HGF in hypertension patients combined with ICVD was significantly higher than essential hypertension group. ICVD group combined with hypertension whose serum HGF level was significantly higher than control group. The level of serum HGF in ICVD group with 2 and 3 hypertension was significant higher, and along with the increase of blood pressure, the level of serum HGF was elevated obviously. The level of serum HGF in ICVD patients with 3 hypertention was significant higher than the other two groups, but it was similar between 1 hypertention group and control group.Conclusion:1. The level of serum HGF was markedly elevated in patients with ICVD, and significantly higher in ACI patients with early onset. It is related to the infarct volume and severity of ischemia. Serum HGF concentration is an early sensitive indicator to reflect cerebral ischemia.2. The lever of serum HGF was related to the type of ICVD, atherosclerosis extent and the level of pressure.
