Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy and adverse effects of immunotherapy using dendritic cells(DC)in treatment of patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC).Methods:Sixty one cases with renal cell carcinoma were enrolled in the present study, the patients were performed surgical resection in the Thousand Buddha Mountain in Shandong Province Hospital from January,2004 to December,2006. These cases were divided into two groups by therapeutic methods A and B. dendritic cells were used after operation in groupA including 31 cases; in groupB including 30 cases, only radical nephrectomy was used. The T-lymphocyte subsetsCD3,CD4,CD8, the ratio of CD4/CD8 were tested before and after operation. Results:After the application of DC immunotherapy, A, B groups T1, T2 stages cancer patients with T-lymphocyte subsets CD3, CD4, CD8, CD4/CD8, compared with the preoperative There was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). A group (T3-T4) stage cancerpatients with T-lymphocyte subsets as compared with the preoperative CD3, CD4, CD4/CD8 increased. CD8 reduced, the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). B Group (T3-T4) stage cancer patients with T-lymphocyte subsets CD3, CD4, CD8, CD4/CD8, compared with the preoperative difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05).Conclusions:(T3-T4) period in patients with renal cell carcinoma after radical application of DC immunotherapy can enhance immune function, significantly improved renal cell carcinoma patients after the clinical efficacy.
