Space environment differs from any environment on earth. In recent years, people pay close attention to the effect on organism by special environment, such as space radiation, high vacuum, microgravity and so on. How animals development progress is influenced by microgravity has been the frontier scientific research field. To illustrate the effects of simulated microgravity on the development of Drosophila eggs, samples on two development periods (pupation and eclosion) were performed in this study. The major inspected factors are:hatching rate, velocity of development, reproductive capacity and longevity. Recent research has revealed that programmed cell death and cell proliferation play a very important role during Drosophila metamorphosis,. In order to explore the intrinsic mechanism of simulated microgravity influence on Drosophila, expression level of apoptosis and cell proliferation related genes were detected by RT-PCR... Apoptosis pathway genes include caspase-1, rpr, grim, hid, skl, p53, diapl, diap2 and thread, and cell proliferation related genes include corkscrew, IMP-L2, headcase and tolkin. Our experiment showed that:(1) The speed of Drosophila development significantly delayed under the simulated microgravity,:rates of developmental delay of pupation time and eclosion time were 18.61% and 12.24%, respectively. (2) The life-span of male Drosophila was significantly decreased. (3) The expression of pro-apoptosis genes (caspase-1,p53,hid,grim and skl) significantly increased, and the expression of diapl and thread declined distinctly. Expression levels of cell profileration related genes(IMP-L2 and corkscrew) declined. These results revealed that simulated microgravity could induce apoptosis and inhibite the cell profileration of Drosophila by influencing the balance of the apoptosis and proliferation during development of drosophila, which ultimately influenced the development progress of Drosophila.
