Abstract Objective Study distribution of alpha1-adrenoceptor (a1-AR) subtype in chronic prostatitis patients with prostate, posterior urethra and bladder detrusor, to provide a basis clinical treatment forα-adrenergic receptor blocker drugs. Methods Prostate specimens were obtained at autopsy from 30 organ donors who died without prostatic disease. The specimens of the prostate peripheral zone were examined by Pathology. we use real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (real time-RT PCR) method for quantification of each a1-AR subtype expression in 24 cases of inflammatory group and 6 cases of non-inflammatory group of adult men in the prostate transition zone and the surrounding zone, the posterior urethra and bladder detrusor tissue. Results The a1-AR subtype mRNA expression in the bladder detrusor and posterior urethra, the inflammation group has higher level expression compared with the non-inflammatory group. The a1-AR subtype mRNA expression in the prostate, the inflammation group compared with the non-inflammatory group in lower level expression. Conclusions Our study exposes the abnormal expression of the a1-AR subtypes in the bladder detrusor and posterior urethra, and it can explain various kinds of urodynamic changes in CP.These findings were also supported that abnormal expression of a1-adrenoceptor subtypes in prostate, posterior urethra and bladder detrusor participate to the occurrence and development of CP.
