Objective : To observe the treatment effect on facial scar with combination of ultrapulse CO2 laser and Intense pulsed light(EPL).And to compare this method of treatment regarding the early time scar and the obsolete scar curative effect difference, Is advantageous for in the clinical care to choose the more scientific treatment opportunity. Methods : 50 example face scar patient, divides into 2 groups according to the course, 1 year within 29 examples are the early groups, 1 year above 21 examples are the obsolete groups. Two group of patient's ages, the sex, the patient's condition and so on non-significance difference (P>0.05), the patient is Fitzpatrick III,IVSkin. Total 50 cases with facial scar received the treatments for six times with combination of ultrapulse CO2 laser and EPL (585nm). The interval of two treatments was 1 month. Scar resurfacing was performed utilizing ultrapulse CO2 laser with laser fluences of 200~400 mJ/p and frequency of 10~20 p/s. with followed. five monthly treatment beginging one month later from using IPL(585nm) with pulse width of 2.5 ms~15 ms and fluences of 25~35 J/cm2.Results: Patients were followed up three month after last treatment, 33 cases were graded as excellent clearance, 14 cases were of good clearance, and 3 cases were of fair clearance. And early group appearance 21 examples, effectiveness 7 examples, invalid 1 example; Obsolete group appearance 11 examples, effectiveness 8 examples, invalid 2 examples. Common side effects in this study were minor erythema and hyperpigmenlation. Conclusion Combination ultrapulse CO2 laser and Intense pulsed light(IPL) is a novel therapy for facial scar .Which is considered to be beneficial because of the advantages, of increased accuracye, timesaving, less bleeding, minimal invasiveness, short recovery. The early group compares the non-statistics significance with the obsolete group total effectiveness (P>0.05), but obviously the efficiency has the significance difference obvious (P<0.05). Explained that this method of treatment may carry on the early treatment regarding the scar patient, and the curative effect is better.
