The Measurement Of Serum UPA And Its Clinical Significance In Renal Tumor

【Objective】To evaluate the role of the levels change of serum urokinase-type plasminogen activator(uPA) in diagnosis of benign or malignant renal lesions and to investigate the relationships between serum uPA level and pathological T stage,differentiation, metastasis of renal cell carcinoma(RCC).【Methods】Preoperative blood samples were obtained from 50 patients with RCC and 20 cases of patients with renal angiomyolipoma or cyst(control group) from Jan 2009 to Apr 2009.Serum levels of of all samples were detected by ELISA.The relationships between uPA level and clinic-pathological data(differentiation,T stage and metastasis et al) were analyzed by the One-Way ANOVA or the Independent-Sample T test,t' test.P value less than 0.05 was regarded as statistically significance.Data were expressed by(x±s) and analyzed by SPSS software.【Results】The serum uPA of renal cell carcinoma(519±260 pg/ml) was much higher than that in the control group(203±113pg/ml),P＜0.0.1.The levels of uPA were significantly higher among the subgroups of poorly differentiated RCC(795±74pg/ml),local advanced RCC(636±241 pg/ml) and metastatic RCC(695±325 pg/ml).Mutivariate analysis showed that uPA levels was the independent predictive indicator of distant metastasis in patients with RCC,P=0.038.There was no significant difference in uPA level between the subgroup of local advanced RCC and the subgroup of metastatic RCC.The level of uPA was not significantly different among the RCC patients with different tumor size(＜4cm,4-7cm,＞7cm). 【Conclusion】It indicated that uPA system might play an important role in rennal carcinogenesis, invasiveness and metastasis.The measurement of serum uPA may contribute to the diagnosis and the evaluation of the prognosis for RCC.
