Purpose:To evaluate the change in macular function after intravitreal injection of bevacizumab for the treatment of funduus neovasularization from Different Diseases. Methods:For this interventional case series,48 eyes of 43 patients with CNV or RNV were treated with intravitreal injections of bevacizumab.Microperimetry in the macular area was performed with Humphrey 750 automated Perimeter before, and at 1 month and 6 months after treatment. The results were divided into four quadrants as superior temporal, inferior temporal, superior nasal and inferior nasal. And each site of the four quadrants were numbered respectively(see Fig.1).Then to compare the variations of each site's quantum, the mean sensitivity(MS) in the limited area(see Fig.1),the mean defect(MD),fovea, the pattern standard deviation(PSD) and central scotoma statistically between preoperative and at 1 month and 6 months after treatment. The Stratus OCT3000(Carl Zeiss,Dublin,California,USA) was used at the baseline examination and at follow-up visits. At each visit, all patients underwent examination by OCT of cross-sections(5 to 6 mm in length) centered on the fovea. On these OCT sections, foveal thickness was measured manually as distance between the inner surface of the neurosensory retina and the retinal pigment epithelium(RPE) under lying the fovea. RESULTS:1.The variations of 18 sites' quantum in the limited area were not statistically significant(p>0.05),the other two site's quantum were significant Increased(P<0.05);2.The change of the mean defect(MD) and central Foveal Thickness shows a significant decreased tendency(P<0.05).3.Pattern standard deviation(PSD) decreased after the Surgery, but had not significant difference(p>0.05).4.After treatment, best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) and fovea were improved significantly(P<0.05) 5.With treatment, the mean number the absolute scotoma and relative scotoma of measurement points within the scotomas decreased significantly(P<0.05),unfortunately,the central scotoma were enlarged in 2 eyes at 1 month and in 1 eye at 6 months.6.Best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) was in direct correlation with the aforesaid parameters about the visual field defect Preoperative and at 6 months after therapy(p<0.05).Condusion:1.Intravitreal injection of bevacizumab improved retinal sensitivity in the macular area.2.Some eyes showed enlargement of the central scotoma after this treatment.
