| Objective: To compare the safety and efficacy of ureteroscopy with holmium: YAG laser lithotripsy (LL) and pneumatic lithotripsy (PL) for ureteral calculi. Methods: Clinical application of ureteroscopy with holmium: YAG laser lithotripsy (LL) in 128 cases and pneumatic lithotripsy (PL) in 124 cases were analyzed. The operation time, the first successful rate of stone fragmentation, postoperative hematuria time, cost and hospital stay, the stone postoperative clearance rate of one month, all complications and the renal function progress were compared. The data was performed by statistical analysis.Result: The average operation time and postoperative hematuria time of LL were shorter than that of PL (45.94±10.34 min vs. 57.56±16.15 min, 2.75±1.20 days vs. 4.38±1.59 days, P<0.05). The postoperative hospital stay, costs and complications were shorter for LL (3.54±1.59 days vs. 5.25±2.29 days, 8146.56±1496.13 yuans vs. 9259.80±2547.07 yuans, 3 cases vs. 13 cases, P<0.05) .The average first successful rate of stone fragmentation (including upper and middle-lower ureter stone ) and the stone postoperative clearance rate of one month were higher for PL (92.2% vs. 83.9%, 91.5% vs. 80.5%, 95.9% vs. 89.6%, 96.9% vs. 90.3% , P<0.05). Two weeks and one month of renal function recovery of renal dysfunction cases after LL are better than PL. There is statistic significance between them. Conclusion: The ureteroscopy with holmium: YAG laser lithotripsy (LL) is an excellent form of treatment for ureteral calculi. It is more reliable, highly effective, rapid and safe procedure than pneumatic lithotripsy (PL). LL should be the best one for treatment of ureteral calculi in good conditional hospital. |
