Language Function And Event-related Potential Study In Patients With Cerebral Infarction

Abstract/Summary:
Objective: Through the language function and event-related potential (ERP) study in patients with cerebral infarction to explore the different parts of the language function in patients with cerebral infarction and changes in the characteristics of event-related potentials.Methods : Selected in July 2008 to February 2009, Affiliated Hospital of Luzhou Medical College and outpatient department of neurology as a case group of 60 cases, and the results of the CT or MRI into the left cerebral infarction group and the right cerebral infarction group . Selected 30 healthy volunteers as normal control group. All of the patients will test the mini-mental state examination(MMSE) score, Aphasia Battery of Chinese( ABC) as well as the P300 and N400. Data will be analysed by SPSS11.5 statistical software.Results: 1, The comparative analysis of groups: (1) MMSE score: The control group and the cases there are inter-group statistical difference.The inter-group comparison of the cases no significant difference. (2) ABC Scale Oral Expression, repeat, name, listen to understand, read and write sub-item score:The left cerebral infarction group and control group in all sub-items are there significant difference. The right side of cerebral infarction group and control group in the repeat sub-item was no significant difference and other sub-items has significant difference . The left brain cerebral infarction group and the right ones have significant difference between sub-items and the left CI group scored lower. (3) P300 potential: P300 latency and amplitude in case group and control group have significant difference. Between left and right cerebral infarction group inter-group significant difference there, The left cerebral infarction group have longer incubation period and lower volatility than right cerebral infarction group. (4) N400 potential: N400 latency and amplitude in case group and control group have significant difference. Between left and right cerebral infarction group inter-group significant difference there, The left cerebral infarction group have longer incubation period and lower volatility than right cerebral infarction group. 2, The variables related to the results of the analysis: (1) MMSE score and P300 latency and amplitude in the control group, the left and the right cerebral infarction group have the correlation between both. (2) MMSE score and N400 latency and amplitude in the control group, the left and right cerebral infarction group had no correlation between groups. (3) P300 latency, amplitude and N400 latency, amplitude in the control group, the left and right cerebral infarction group had no correlation between groups. (4) P300 latency and amplitude with the ABC sub-scale items named in the control group have the correlation,between left and right cerebral infarction or other sub-items was no correlation. (5) Control group, the left and right cerebral infarction group N400 latency, amplitude and Oral Expression Scale ABC, repeat, name, listen to understand, read between the sub-item correlation between the sub-items and to write no correlation.Conclusion: 1. left and right cerebral infarction in patients with dysfunction of both the existence of language, language of the left cerebral dysfunction in patients with more obvious. 2. The left and right cerebral infarction in patients with both the extension of the P300 latency Extended , amplitude decreased and related MMSE score, suggesting that P300 can be used for evaluation of cognitive function in patients with cerebral infarction. 3. Left and right cerebral infarction in patients with both the extension of the N400 latency Extended, amplitude decreased, and the left cerebral infarction group than in the right group to change the more obvious N400, N400 description to reflect the language function in patients with cerebral damage. 4. Left and right cerebral infarction in patients with N400 latency and amplitude of oral expression and ABC Scale, repeat, name, listen to understand, read sub-item have correlation ,between the P300 latency and amplitude of the sub-items and ABC have no correlation, suggesting that in evaluation of language function in patients with cerebral infarction, N400 is more sensitive than the P300 can be used as evaluation of language dysfunction in patients with cerebral infarction of the objective indicators.
