PurposeTo evaluate the short-term outcome for obstructive left-sided colorectal cancer with one-stage resection and anastomosis after colorectal stenting.Methods62 cases of obstructive left-sided colorectal cancer were managed with colorectal stenting and 61 of them were managed with one-stage resection and anastomosis.46 cases of Hartmann operation and 400 cases of elective surgery were chosen as the control group.ResultsThe colorectal stenting group had lower short-term complication rate than Hartmann group(P<0.05),nearly reached the level of the elective surgery group.ConclusionThe colorectal stenting as a preoperative decompression method seems to be a safe and effective procedure for one-stage resection and anastomosis in obstructive left-sided colorectal cancer.
