Objective: To explore the significance of the change of BAFF in serums of childhood idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP) and to explore the pathophysiology of ITP.Methods :Samples included test group and control group .The concentrations of BAFF were detected in 42 patients with ITP (test group) before and after treatment and in 40 patients to be operated selectively (control group ) by ELISA.Results : The concentrations of BAFF were higher in ITP patients before treatment compared with the control group (P<0.01) and post - treatment (P<0.01), but there were no significant differences between the post-treatment and the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion: The high concentrations of BAFF in childhood idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura may be involved in pathophysiology of ITP.
