Preoperative MRI Evaluation Of The Consistency Of Pituitary Adenomas And Clinical Significance

Objective:To discuss the possibility of MRI evaluation of pituitary adenomas consistency and its significance。Methods:In 97 cases,All patients received surgery and pathological examination,71 cases were soft(nonfibrous),14 cases were moderate,12 cases were firm(fibrous)。Preoperative MRI was performed in all cases,Tumor/Pons signal intensity ratio(TPSIR),Tumor/Cerebrospinal fluid signal intensity ratio(TCSIR)were measured in T2WI。To analyse the relationship between the growth pattern,size and type of organization of pituitary adenomas and the rate of total resection。Results: In three groups,T2WI Tumor/Pons signal intensity ratio(TPSIR)was 1.681±0.069 , 1.344±0.082 , 0.981±0.060 respectively ; there was significant difference between three groups(P<0.01);T2WI Tumor/Cerebrospinal fluid signal intensity ratio(TCSIR)was 0.771±0.052 , 0.611±0.046 , 0.482±0.055 respcetively;The diference was prominence(P<0.01).Growth pattern,size and type of organization of pituitary adenomas affect the rate of total resection。Conclusions:1,Preoperative MRIT2WI can predict consistency of pituitary adenomas,which is very important for choice of surgical approach,microsurgical method and prognosis。2,Criteria for judgement of signal intensity:T/P of nonfibrous group is more than 1.6;T/P of moderate group is about 1.3;T/P of fibrous group is less than 1.0。3,Growth pattern,size and type of organization of pituitary adenomas also affect the rate of total resection,besides consistency and technology of surgeon affect the rate of total resection。...
