The Ultrasonographic Evaluation Of Abnormal Changes Of Thyroid Gland In Patients Of Type 2 Diabetes And Clinical Significance

Objective: To discuss the abnormal changes of thyroid gland and its clinical significance evaluated by ultrasonography in patients of type 2 diabetes (T2DM).Methods: 93 patients of T2DM were studied and divided into three groups according to the course: group A (31 cases , the course is≤5 years ), group B (30 cases , 5years 10 years ), and D group (30 cases ) as normal control group. The size of thyroid gland was measured by ultrasonography and the volume was calculated .The internal echo changes and whether there was nodules was observed. The enlargement and abnormal structure of thyroid gland were judged according to corresponding standards. FreeT3 (FT3), freeT4 (FT4), sensitive TSH (STSH), thyroglobulin antibody (TGAb) and thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) were detected.Results: The volume of thyroid gland of A group, B group and C group was significantly larger than that of D group(P <0.05). The volume of thyroid gland of B group was significantly larger than that of C group(P <0.05 ) . The number of thyroid gland enlargement of B group was remarkably higher than that of A ,C and D group(P <0.05). The number of abnormal structure of thyroid gland of C group was significantly higher than that of A, B and D groups(P <0.05). The number of abnormal structure of thyroid gland of B group was significantly higher than that of A and D groups(P <0.05).The abnormal number by blood biochemistry detection of A, B, C group was significantly higher than that of D group(P<0.05). Conclusions : The thyroid gland volume and blood biochemistry abnormal number of patients of type 2 diabetes was obvious increase than normal control group. The number of thyroid gland enlargement was most obvious in the course of an illness 5 to 10 years group. The number of abnormal structure of thyroid gland along with diabetes course of an illness progress obvious increase.The abnormal changes of thyroid gland in patients of type 2 diabetes (T2DM) can be evaluated by ultrasonography objectively. Combined with the result of blood biochemistry detection,it can provide overall information of thyroid gland inpatients of T2DM for clinicia,and the basis for treatment and prognosis.
