Objective: The purpose of this retrospective clinical and radiographical study was to evaluate the treatment outcome of root canal system obturated by passively fitting cone of resin-coated gutta-percha with a dual-cured version of EndoREZ sealer compared with AH Plus sealer and gutta-percha.Methods: 32 cases of root canal treatment teeth were randomly divided into two groups. Group A was filled with AH Plus paste and gutta-percha, obturated by the lateral condensation technique. Group B was filled with dual-cured EndoREZ paste and resin-coated gutta-percha, obturated by the single-cone technique. The result was assessed clinically and radiographically in one week and 18 months of postoperative and a comparison to baseline radiographs was made. Success of root canal treatment was based on absence of clinical symptoms, a normal or slightly widened periodontal ligament, and absence or reduction of periapical radiolucencies with an absence of pain in patients who had pre-existing lesion associated with pain. Results: After 18 months, 31 cases were evaluated and the recall rate was 96.88%. The pain incidence within one week after operative was 7 cases in AH Plus group and only 2 cases in EndoREZ group. There has statistically significant between AH Plus and EndoREZ sealer ( P < 0.05 ). In the radiographic and clinical examination at 18 months postoperatively, the clinical symptoms were within normal limitation in both groups. In AH Plus group, 10 cases with pre-existing lesion have 2 cases become reduction and 7 cases become absence. In EndoREZ group, 6 cases with pre-existing lesion have 1 cases become reduction and 4 cases become absence. The curing rate of AH Plus group was 96.88% and EndoREZ group was 93.33%. There has no statistically significant between AH Plus and EndoREZ sealer ( P > 0.05).Conclusion: The clinical and radiographical data suggest that the tested methacrylate resin-based sealer used in conjunction with resin-coated gutta-percha performed very well as a root canal sealer.
