| Objective: To evaluate the impact on quality of life and efficacy objectively by traditional Chinese medicine combined with chemotherapy in advanced non-small cell lung cancer patients. Methods: 52 cases in criteria were divided into two groups of 26 cases each. observer group (TCM + chemotherapy), the control group (chemotherapy alone), the main observation index: the quality of life, hematological toxicity and changes in the tumor size. Results: For QOL: the results showed that the global health, each functional scales and the majority of symptoms (except the item of diarrhea and financial difficulties) scales in observer group scored higher than pre-treatment, difference was significant(P < 0.05); the control group only in the global health, one functional scales (role) and two symptoms (dyspnoea and pain) scales had a significant improvement(P < 0.05);otherwise ,the item of constipation (CO)scored higher than pre-treatment (symptoms increased), there was a significant difference(P < 0.05). between the two groups, after the treatment, the observator group had a significant difference(P < 0.05)compared to the control group in the fields of global health, functional scales and most of the symptoms (except the item of diarrhea and financial difficulties) scales.change of the tumor size : the rate of the tumor stability in the observator group was higher than the control group , difference was significant(P < 0.05);in the fields of hematology : two sets of leukocyte (WBC and PLT)counts decreased after chemotherapy , but a greater decrease in the control group, group comparison was statistically significant (P < 0.05).Conclusion: the traditional Chinese medicine combined with chemotherapy can improve the quality of life Better, stable the size of the tumor, Increase the efficacy and Reduce the toxicity. |
