The Investigation Of Relationship Between Estradiol And Patients With Thyroid Nodules, Uterine Leiomyoma And BBD

Objective: to investigate the relationship between estradiol andmenopausal women with thyroid nodules ,uterine leiomyoma and benign breast disease.Methods: collect 73 patients with thyroid nodules and the generalinformation including age, the factors relating with estrogen (the satation of menstruation, menarche age, primipara age, gravidity), the station of iodine salt,the history of radiation, life style (smoke, drink), the station of uterine leiomyoma and benign breast disease.Take 10ml blood from all subjects. One half is for the abstraction for serum and the left one is for that of DNA.The diagnosis of thyroid nodules, uterine leiomyoma and benign breast disease is all according to the results of B ultrasound . Benign breast diseases mainly include two forms:benign breast hyperplasia and breast adenoma.According to the diseases ,we divide subjects into four groups: the group of thyroid nodules(18 cases); the group of thyroid nodules and uterine leiomyoma(16 cases);the group of thyroid nodules and benign breast desease(21 cases);the group of thyroid nodules ,uterine leiomyoma and benign breast diseases(18case). Then we compare the general information and the level of estradiol of menopausal women among the four groups. The reason why the subjects are menopausal women is that estradiol is influenced by menstruation. To test the basal level of estradiol we need take blood on the 2-3days of menstrual period. But it is difficult for us to do that in China.Results: there are no statistical different in general information(age/ thesatation of menstruation/menarche age/primipara age/gravidity /the station of iodine salt/the history of radiation/life style) among the four groups of women and the level of estradiol among the four groups of menopausal women.Conclusion: the patients with thyroid nodules, utrine leiomyoma andbenign breast disease are not accompanied with a higher level of estradiol. The result is negative and we have analyzed the reasons :1. the sample is small 2. our subjects are menopausal women and how about the level of estradiol among all women including menopausal women and reproductive life women? 3. we just analyze the level of estradiol .Many scientists have found that estradiol can promote the growth of the three types of the cells and there are ER in the three types of tissues . Some found the number of ER in the abnormal tissues(thyroid nodules/uterine leiomyoma/benign breast diseases) is higher than that of the peripheral tissues. Is the number or the affinity of ER the reason of patients with the three types of diseases? we need further research.
