Objective: To explore the prevalence and influence factors of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) in city and observe the effect of diet and behavior control on some biochemical indicators .And to provide the scientific reference for the further study of prevalenc and intervention of T2DM.Methods: 1310 individuals from QingShanHu community were questioned and measured with the cluster random sampling method ( questionnaire.physical examination.FBG and other biochemical indicators ).66 T2DM were measured by case-control study. We also observed the effect of diet and behavior control on them and compared their biochemical indicators before and later .Results: (1) The prevalence rate of T2DM was 5.03% for total,6.42% for men and 4.31% for women. The rate of DM was significantly increasing with rising of aged (2)42.90% of subject were overweight(BMI≥24) and the prevalence rate was increasing with rising of BMI among the males and females. The overweighted subjects SBP,DBP,Tc,TG,LDL,FBGwere significantly higher than those of the normal population, but HDL was lower than that.(3)Single and multiple logistic regression analysis indicated that BMI were associated with T2DM.The value of OR was 2.548, Subjects with the lowest educational level had the higher prevalence rate of DM. The case-control study showed the lower educational level, the higher risk of DM. The value of OR was 1.785. It suggested that low education played an important role as a risk factor. The prevalence rate of family history of DM was 1.88 times compared with that of negative history. The case-control study showed that family history of DM (OR=2.612) was the independent risk factor for T2DM.TG was the risk factor for T2DM also(OR=2.785). (4) The prevalence of IFG was 7.63%, which was increasing with rising of aged and the rate of obesity was significantly higher than that of normal population. (5) Diet and behavior control had certain effect on self-sensation and some biochemical indicators for T2DM. For example subjects FBG obviously falled .Conclusion: (1) The prevalence rate of T2DM was 5.03% for total, the higher than the national average .Prevalence rate for men was higher than women. It was increasing with age increased and was at low prevalence rate in the married. Prevalence rates of low education level. civil servants (mental) and low-income individuals in the population were relatively higher. Prevalence rate of obesity, hypertension in DM group was significantly higher than other groups. (2)The major risk factors related with DM were high TG, abnormal BMI ,low level of education and family history of DM .(3)On the implementation of 66 cases of DM patients with a one-month diet and behavior control, the result showed that diet and behavior control had certain effect on self-sensation and some biochemical indicators for T2 DM. For example, subjects FBG and Cr had decreased significantly.
