Objective: Through animal experiments testing the expression and distribution of bone morphogenetic protein -7 (BMP-7) in the periapex of rabbit during experimental tooth movement to analyze the role of BMP-7 in orthodontic tooth movement,so that we could make more realization about the variety of orthodontic teeth movement.In order to provide reference support for oral clinic employment.Methods: Orthodontic appliances was placed between the maxillary right first molars and maxillary central incisors of adult rabbits in order to make the first morlar to move toward.Immunohistochemical and image an- alyses were performed at 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17,19,21 days after orthodontic force application.Results: Through the immunohistochemical staining method, We found:â‘ in the control group, very weak positive staining was mainly distributed in the periodontal ligament cells and the surrounding cells, the package of osteoblasts and pulp fibroblasts have positive staining, the positive staining in osteoclast is relatively weaker.â‘¡in experimental group, positive staining in the tension side in stronger than the pressure side, especially the fibroblasts and osteoblasts near alveolar has strongest staining. Periodontal ligament of the middle region has weak staining, the osteoclasts of pressure side also have strong staining, but weak compared to osteoblasts.â‘¢in the tension side ,the expression of the BMP-7 in the 7 day reached a peak, followed by the expression level decreased to 19 day, 21 day, the expression level of experimental group and control group is similar . In the pressure side the group of nine days reached the peak and decreased to 21 day to reach the level of the control group. Conclusion: This experiment revealed the expression and distribution of BMP-7 during orthodontic tooth movement.It testifyied that BMP-7 is concerned with the periodontium remodeling in orthodontical process and regulates the periodontium remodeling.
