Obiective:To analyze the reasons for 35 cases of complications arising out of augmentation mammaplasty by injecting polyacrylamide hydrogel and discuss reasonable treatment strategies for complications.Materials and Methods:The cases of complications arising out of augmentation mammaplasty by injecting polyacrylamide hydrogel carried out in other hospitals and consulted about in our hospital from Sept. 2006 to Nov. 2008 was collected. It was required that the clinical cases of 35 individuals (total 70 mammas) should be taken, with the patients from 20 to 47 years old and an average age of 35.5 years old. The injection time differs from 1 week to 6 years, with an average period of 3.5 years. The injection volume in each side varies from 50 to 300ml. The types of complications are as follows: 25 patients feel that mammas are deformed, hardening or there are local nodular masses; 8 patients feel painful and uncomfortable; and 2 patients feel that the injection mass displaces. Routine inspection as well as color Doppler examination was made for the targets before operation, so as to make the injection locus, levels of different tissues and changes in tissues and structures caused by matters definite. And then treatment was made by dissecting and drawing the injection mass through orthophoric operation. Results:In view of different complications, the injection mass was dissected and drawn by orthophoric operation for 35 patients suffering from complications. The patients recovered well after operation, with such symptoms as local scleroma, pain, discomfort, etc. disappeared basically. Their mammas become soft and even, and they are satisfied with the treatment effects. Through color Doppler check after 3 to 6 months of the operation, it is found that there is no foreign matter.Conclusions:1. There may be several complications arising out of augmentation mammaplasty by injecting polyacrylamide hydrogel, and they cannot be thoroughly cleared up from the body. And some of the complications were caused by improper treatment methods.2. Color Doppler examination shall be chosen before operation, and then the injection mass shall be dissected and drawn to the maximum by orthophoric operation, which features one kinds of effective operation mode to treat the complications arising out of augmentation mammaplasty by injecting.
