Objective:In view of the characteristics of the patient's heart valve ,the report was to compare the quality of life(QOL)of the patients pre and post mechanical heart valve replacement with self-made questionnaire and analyse the differences, moreover, provide the evidences for clinical treatment and healthy education.Patients and Methods:From 2006.5 to 2007.5,83 patients underwent mechanical heart valve replacement operation at the Department of cardiothoracic surgery in our hospital were enrolled into our srudy. The self-made questionnaire QOLQ-MVR(quality of life Questionnaire of mechanical valve replacement)was used in the present retrospective study assess the quality of life heart valve patients following mechanical valve replcement procedures.Results:1. General HealthyThe general health of the patients with mechanical heart valve replacement improve significantly(P<0.05),the patients'recovery was slow in the first month while was fast during the first to third month ,and to the sixth month most patients'general health were satisfactory.2. Physical FunctionThe patients'physical function improved significantly (P<0.01),especially living self-care ability(P<0.001), the walking ability score decreased significantly at the third and the sixth month after operation, during the three review after procedure, comparing the two item:walking for 200 miles or 1000 miles,on the same phrases, they all have no variability (P>0.05).3. Emotional FunctionOf 92% patients'mood improved, the score of anxiety post- operation decreased obviously than pre-operation,the three item:self-care satisfaction, living enrichment satisfaction and mood improved gradually after surgery. The score of attention had significant variability(P<0.005) between the third and the sixth month, the score of energy had variability also(P<0.01),and improved gradually afterward.4. Social FunctionThe social communication improved obviously on the third and the sixth month after operation(P<0.01),the sexual life score had variability between pre and post operation(P<0.05),the score of family support had not variability between preoperation and the first, the third month postoperation (P>0.05)while had significant variability compared with the sixth month postoperation (P<0.05), the relation support score had difference between pre and post surgery(P<0.05).5. Disease AssociationOf 71% patients still worried their disease in one month while only 45% pateients in six month, the score of valve effect was somewhat high in one month while decreased quickly during the first to the third month, and decreased slowly after three month. The score of patients caring for hemorrhage and thrombotic hadn't variability among the three phrases post surgery(P>0.05).The disease burden score had obviously difference among the three phrases(P<0.05),most patients could perform the doctor's medical orders.6. Demixing AnalysisThe patients'scores with aged above 55, their scores among social communication, family support, physical function after surgery were all lower than the patients with aged below 55(P<0.05). The emoting score of the patients in high educational group was inferior than the score of which in low education group(P<0.05).The family support score of the patients with disease course above 10 years was inferior than below 10 years(P<0.01),The gender, the position of mechanical heart valve and the valve type didn't have effect to the patient's score. Conclusions:The patients'general health after surgery was superior than before surgery, moreover,it improved more obviously with the extension of time, also other aspects. The patients'recover was rapidly during in one month to three month, after three month postoperation, their health conditions conld approach better level.
