Objective To investigate the psychological demand of PLWHA in the country, compose,implement psychological support and organize mutual aid groups to PLWHA, product the CD, to provide reference for this work in the people of other similar area.Methods Sixty individuals responded to questionnaires in which self-designed questionnaire, SCL-90 and questionnaires on quantity social support were adopted and some of the patients were visited. Compose by the result of evaluation and suggestion of experts.There were sixty PLWHA and nineteen psychological supporters attended the training. After the training, sixty PLWHA who needed the psychological support accepted the psychological implement by the psychological supporters who past the training, organized mutual aid groups to PLWHA, product the CD,and analyzed their psychological state before and after implement.Results (1) Compared to the national norm, the scores of somatization, obsessive compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobic anxiety and psychoticism of the paid blood donors infected with HIV were significantly higher(P﹤0.001).(2)There was negative correlation between total support score and depression, paranoid, There was negative correlation between subjective support and SCL-90 total score, the total average score, the positive items, depression, psychoticism.(3)The patient's psychological stress mainly caused by their financial embarrassment in life, children's education or marriage, bodily symptoms, house living and discrimination from others.(4)The students who accepted the tentative training by mastered many psychological support knowledge and skill. The score before and after training were remarkable difference (t=-7.442, P<0.01). (5)After implement, social support of PLWHA are heightened (t=-3.088, P<0.01), and the scores of factors in SCL-90 are reduced (P<0.01), psychological health state are improved.Conclusions The psychological support measures, such as training people associated with PLWHA by to enhance their psychological knowledge and techniques, intervention staffs providing psychological support, organizing mutual aid groups and increasing PLWHA's social support, are suitable for PLWHA in rural areas and will help their psychological health state.
