Objective The aim of this study is to understand knowledge, attitude and influencing factors of AIDS among juveniles committed delinquent in Hefei. We analyzed the factors of young people's awareness of AIDS knowledge for providing a scientific basis for the further conduct on health education about AIDS knowledge among young people.Methods 8 squadrons from HeFei Correction Institution were select through cluster sampling method. Then 51 from each squadron with altogether 408 people were select through simple random sampling method and were assessed by anonymous questionnaires.Results Juveniles who committed delinquent know little of the basic knowledge about HIV/AIDS. They got low rates of correct on the basic knowledge about AIDS. They got a little higher rate(as 62.4%) of correct about the infective way of HIV than the non-infective way(as 50.4%), but the difference his no significant. The level of AIDS-related knowledge of juveniles committed delinquent was intermediate. And some items were answered badly. There is accounting for only 40% that has the accuracy surpassing 50%. Many juveniles committed delinquent lacking of the knowledge about HIV/AIDS has not yet formed their own opinions. Single factor analysis showed that the influence factors of scores of awareness were the sex, the family address, the health condition, the relationship with classmates, the academic record, playing the games and the Internet, the family financial circumstances, migrant parents and the relationship between the parents concerns. Multiple linear Logistic regression analysis showed that factors influencing scores of awareness were the family address, the academic record , the relationship between the parents. The family lives in the county the basic knowledge about AIDS score to be lower (OR:0.577,95%CI:0.334~1.000, P=0.050); The parents relationship are worse, the basic knowledge about AIDS score is lower (OR.0.444,95%CI.0.206~0.956, P=0.0038); the crime young people with better academic performance got the lower score of AIDS knowledge; [outstanding candidates (OR:0.353,95%CI:0.165~0.755, P=0.007), academic record satisfactory person (OR:0.530,95%CI:0.310~0.907, P=0.021)]. Many crime young people's place have not yet launched the HIV/AIDS Health Education. 86.93% of the girls believe that it is necessary to carry out AIDS health education in schools. They are willing to allow the television (34.8%) , the books and periodicals newspaper (38.2%) to share their knowledge on HIV/AIDS. The general trend is that the crime young people hope to receive HIV/AIDS Health Education in a lower grade. 54.2% crime young people thought that the elementary school should start to carry out the AIDS health education, thought that should start from the junior middle school is 40.2%.Conclusion The knowledge on HIV/AIDS awareness of Juveniles committed delinquent is low, and they are eager to obtain comprehensive health knowledge. We should strengthen the health education about HIV/AIDS for them in their living conditions vigorously. The health education enable them to establish a correct self-protection sense and an appropriate attitude to AIDS patients. In particular, to seize the period of the formation about worldview and values of juveniles committed delinquent, this is a good opportunity to protect their physical and mental health development.
