An Epidemiologieal Study On The Relationship Between Behavior Problems And Injuries Of Secondary School Students

ObjectiveYoung people are high risk of injuries,adolescence injury has been incorporated into the control of disease respects.Explore the behavior and injuries of young people which closely related to the relationship between public health problem.To carry out the study of youth and adolescent behavioral problems,and the distribution of injuries and its influencing factors.To provide a theoretical basis of controling and preventing injuries.To compare the consistency of statistics on the result of the two standards in the incidence of injury,analysis of the reasons for the differences,so as to explore the applicability of the two standards.MethodsFirstly,a cross-sectional study was conducted with 2166 students from huaqiao High school.The YSR(Youth Self-Report) Behavior Questionnaire and self-designed checklist of relevant factor were used to select behavior and explore influential factors for behavior problems among them.Secondly,a prospective cohort study on injuries for 1-year period was condueted,with 1958 students selected.They were divided into two cohorts with or without exposure according to behavior problems base at the beginng of the study.Nonparametric test(wilcoxon rand sum test) was performed to analyze the differences in injuries between the two cohorts of students. And the influential factors for injuries were analyzed with multi- classifieation ordinal response variable logistic regression model.Last,Kappa test was used to analyze the consistency of the two criteria for the incidence of injury.Results1,The total detected rate of behavior Problems in school- age students was 10.619%.The detected rate of aggressive behavior(3.047%),back(2.770%), antisoeial behavior(2.734%),depression and anxiety(2.493%),thought problem (2.262%),social problems(1.800%),Attention Deficit(1.985%),body chief complaint(1.985%),The result by multivariate conditional logistic regression model indicated the poor academic performance,poor relations with fellow students,having Internet behavior,and friends having smoking,access to entertainment place behavioral problems were the possible risk factor for behavioral problems.The incidence of injury in follow-up of 1958 students was to 64.147%,of which the students who have behavioral problems in the queue 210,the rate of injury was 99.523% happened,the type of injury for the previous five were falls(25.2%),traffic injuries (16.2%),sharps and bites(11.4%),collision injuries(11.0%);non-behavioral problems of students queue 1748,the year the incidence of injury were to 59.897%, the type of injury for the previous five were falls(17.9%),bitten(8.87%),sharp injury(7.9%),traffic injuries(6.9%),collision injuries and burns(6.2%);the two cohorts differences in the incidence of injury was statistically significant(u=-4.895, P＜0.001).The group which have behavioral problems happened 3 times or more than were 10.476%(22/210),and the group which no behavioral problems happened 3 times or more than were 4.291%(75/1748).Muti-variate analysis showed that injury was positively associated with behavior problems,Internet behavior,poor relationships with classmates and companion behavior(smoking,access to places of entertainment).The corresponding RR values were 2.508,1.584,1.880,2.004,1.561.2,The results exist consistency of two types criteria to define the number of injuries.kappa value was 0.323,P＜0.001.Three criteria the incidence of injury is higher than the incidence of two criteria(respectively71.7%,42.8%),in the analysis the proportion of injury treatment and one more rest day,two criteria ratio are higher three criteria ratio.Conclusions1,The factors of behavior of students are related with academic questions,the relationship between the students,the relationship with their teachers,Internet and Friends behavior(such as entertainment,smoking),different types of injuries was happened between the queues of having behavioral problems and non- problems students,having behavioral problems is high risk of injury.so making injury intervention measures,it should pay particular attention to student who have behavior problems.2,The two criteria is more suitable for the study of injury epidemiology in the comparison of defined injury standard.
