Objective: To study the characteristics of Tourtte Syndrome under the guidance of overall concept and differential treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Method: 140 patients who fulfilled the criteria of this study, were asked to fill up the Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) and a form of TS clinical symptoms (based on Traditional Chinese Medicine's terms). Frequency of symptoms was calculated. Chi-square test was used to analyze relations of symptoms and general situation (gender, age, severity of tic). Further more, Binary Logistic was used to analyze relevance of symptoms and sputum wind syndrome, as well as relevance of secondary symptoms and its key elements for common syndrome differentiation. Result: (1) The frequent exercise-induced symptoms were: eyes blinking 109 times (77.9%),nose jerking 50 times (35.7%), shoulder shrugging29 times (20.7%),head jerking 27 times (19.3%),hand moving 17 times(12.1%), Leg twitch 16 times (11.4%),abdomen jerking 15 times (10.7%)arm moving 9 times (6.4% ),nod/ upward 5 times(3.6%),doing odd 4 times (2.9%), bending / twisting 3 times(2.1%), other sports Tourette 3 times (2.1%),Writing spasm 2 times(1.4%). The frequentof Vocal tic symptoms were: throat clearing 98 times (70.0%), throat different sound 32 times (22.9%), coprolalia 11 times (7.9%),Cough 4 times (2.9%),Olfactory 2 times(1.4%),repeat the language 1 times (0.7%). (2) Frequency of TS in different gender, age has no significant difference, but there are significant difference in severity of TS。(3) The main symptoms of Tourette's syndrome sputum card and wind-square test p> 0.05, high-frequency part of the symptoms and disease in sputum with the wind permits some of the symptoms associated significant.. (4) The chi-square test p > 0.05 between most frequent secondary symptoms(susceptibility of fright) and its key elements for common syndrome differentiation. Conclusion: (1) TS occurred in many parts of the body in different ways. Besides tic symptoms, psychiatric symptoms were prominent. (2) Occurrences of TS were not affected by gender and age but were affected by severity of tic and types of TS. (3) Wind sputum syndrome as the main pathogenesis of Tourtte Syndrome need to be study in-depth. (4) Syndrome differentiation suitable for Tourtte Syndrome needs to be study in-depth.
