Objective: to observe the curative effect of internal carotid artery transient ischemic attack with the stagnation of toxin and blood stasis treated with the removing toxin and activating collaterals herbal medicines, and to discuss the mechanisms of this therapy. Methods: 60 cases were divided into 2 groups at random, 30 cases in treatment group and 30 cases in control group. The removing toxin and activating collaterals herbal medicines and routine Western medicine were administrated to the cases of treatment group. Aspirin Enteric-coated Tablets, Atorvastatin Tablets and routine Western medicine were administrated to the cases of control group. Changes of clinical symptoms, signs and lab indexes were detected before and after treatment. Results: 8 weeks later, we found total effective rate of treatment group was 93.33%, compared with control group, there was predominant difference (P<0.05 ) . At the same time, we found this therapy can lower TC,TG,LDL,WBC,HCT,Fg,D-dimer,CRP,TXB2,ET,IMT and the positive rate of microembolic signal, and improve NO,6-keto-PGF1a, compared with control group, there were predominant differences (P<0.05) or (P<0.01) .Conclusions: The method of removing toxin and activating collaterals to prevent and treat internal carotid artery transient ischemic attack with the stagnation of toxin and blood stasis was testified to be effective.
