| ObjectivesTo define quality of life status of breast cancer patients with before and after chemotherapy;descripe the changes of quality of life status of breast cancer patients with before and after chemotherapy;explore the influential factors of quality of life of breast cancer patients. This study will provide theoretical support and practical guidance for the care of breast cancer patients with before and after chemotherapy,in order to improve the quality of life of patients.MethodsSubjects were 84 breast cancer patients in April - November 2008 at hepatobiliary breast surgical department of South Lake Hospital District and the second breast surgical department of huaxiang Hospital District of Shengjing Hospital affiliated China Medical University. The descriptive research was used.Three questionnaires were used to collect data in this study. The demographic and medical data of subjects were received by the general state questionnaire of self-designed,and Quality of Life Core Questionnaire QLQ-C30(3.0)and the Breast cancer-specific scale QLQ-BR23 (1.0) developed by the European Organizations for Research and Treatment of Cancer were used to evaluate quality of life of breast cancer patients with before and after chemotherapy. The data were caculated by SPSS 13.0.Quality of life status with before and after chemotherapy were compared by using paired samples t-test and signed-rank test, and the influential factor analysis of quality of life was used by multiple linear stepwise regression.Results1.Functional areas:the most number of patients in good and very good levels in cognitive function dimension was,73 persons before the first time chemotherapy (accounted for 86.91%),the least was sexual function dimension, accounted for 0;before the third time chemotherapy, the number of physical function dimension in good and very good levels was up to 51 people(accounted for 82.36%),the lowest dimension was sexual enjoyment, for 0.Global health status:34 patients of 84 investigated patients were in good and very good levels, accounting for 40.48%in survey total numbers before the first time chemotherapy;14 patients of investigated patients in good and very good levels, accounting for 25.80%in the survey total numbers before the third time chemotherapy.Symptom areas:the number of patients in moderate and severe levels in the economic difficulties dimension before the first time chemotherapy was the largest,61 persons(accounted for 72.62%),hair loss caused by the number of trouble latitude at least for 0;third time before chemotherapy, the number of patients in upset by hair loss dimensions in moderate and severe levels was the largest,57 persons(accounted for 91.94%),the least number was dyspnoea latitude, only 18 persons(accounted for 29.03%).2.There were statistically significant differences compared the physical functioning, emotional functioning, cognitive functioning, global health status, fatigue, nausea/vomiting,insomnia,appetite loss, diarrhoea, financial difficulties, arm symptoms, body image, sexual functioning, sexual enjoyment, systemic therapy side effects, upset by hair loss dimensions before and after chemotherapy.3.There were six factors that could have influenced on the quality of life, including age, clinical stage, economic status, health insurance forms, education and occupational status.Conclusion1.The majority of the dimensions in the functional fields of the quality of life were being in a good and very good levels before and after chemotherapy;sexual function, sexual pleasure were seriously damaged;global health status before and after chemotherapy was at a certain degree of damage;the questions of symptom field became increasingly prominent along with chemotherapy, and the trend was aggravated; the damages caused by upset by hair loss, appetite loss and systemic therapy side effects were serious and at the level of moderate to severe. 2.Compared quality of life status of breast cancer patients before and after chemotherapy, most dimensions scores were significantly different.3.Age,clinical stage, economic status, health insurance forms, education and occupational status were the influential factors of the quality of life status. |
