Objective:To evaluate the effect of distraction osteogenesis in treatment of mandibular micrognathia accompanying with severe obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).Methods:19 cases were treated by distraction osteogenesis.The diseases included ankylosis of temporomandibular joint,first and/or second arch syndrome,micromandibular deformity,Crouson syndrome,Melnick-Needles Syndrome.All of the 13 patients were performed bilateral distraction osteotomy of the body and ramus of mandible,among whom 6 patients underwent unilateral distraction osteotomy of the the body or ramus of mandible,and 6 were peformed secondary genioplasty.Every patient had been evaluated pre-and postoperatively with cephalometry and polysomnography.Results:After distraction process was finished, PAS and SaO2 increased and AHI decreased.Subjective symptoms with OSAHS disappered or alleviated,and deformity of all patients was corrected appearently.Conclusion:DO has played an important role in clinic treatment of mandibular micrognathia accompanying with severe obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).
