Objective:To evaluate the methods for diagnosis and treatment of ectopic intrauterine contraceptive devices(IUD).Methods:We evaluated the clinical date of 120 patients whose primary diagnoses are ectopic IUDs and admitted in our hospital from January 2007 to February 2009.Results:64(53.3%) of 120 patients have no symptoms.33(27.5%) manifested bradymenorrhea or irregular colporrhagia.20(16.7%) manifested abdominal pain or waist soreness.Three were pregnant with intrauterine contraceptive devices in situ. Pelvic ultrasound examination was used in all the patients for diagnosis. And three dimensional sonography,X-ray,computed tomography, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy were used in some patients. There were 119 patients who accepted surgeries.63 of them took out intrauterine contraceptive devices during ultrasound-guided,43 by hysteroscopic surgeries,1 by ultrasound-guided hysteroscopic surgery,1 by laparoscopy-guided hysteroscopic surgery,6 by laparoscopic surgeries and 5 by open surgeries.117 surgeries succeed.2 patients still have parts of the intrauterine contraceptive devices in their bodies. The removal ratio is 97.5%.Conclusion:Patients with ectopic intrauterine contraceptive devices usually have no complaints. The major of them are diagnosed when taking auxiliary examination. Most ectopia of intrauterine contraceptive devices are partial ectopic.Proper diagnosis and precise localization of ectopic intrauterine contraceptive devices require X-ray, sonography, three dimensional sonography, computed tomography, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy.Combination of two or more auxiliary examination methods can raise the achievement ratio.
